Margaret Trexler Hessen, MD, FACP, FSHEA

Dr. Margaret Hessen is a Medical Editor for Elsevier’s Point of Care content in Clinical Solutions, having joined the company in 2010. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1982 and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. She has extensive clinical experience in academic and community settings and has published numerous scientific papers, review articles and book chapters. She has served on various public health advisory boards at state and local levels, including during the influenza H1N1 outbreak of 2009. She has written several review articles about influenza for the Annals of Internal Medicine, and edited the influenza section of American College of Physicians’ Physician Information and Education Resource for five years before coming to Elsevier. She has a special interest in public health issues related to immunization.
