Webinar: Reaxys in education - teaching information retrieval to students

As part of today's undergraduate science training, students are asked to radically transform the way in which they interact with information. Search and use strategies that have served them well in the past are a poor match for the structure of scientific information, and this hinders their development as scientists and their success in conducting independent research. Fostering information retrieval and use skills is a central theme for most science departments, and it is increasing clear that students best appropriate these skills within the context of a genuine need for information to solve problems; ie., when the search for information is tied to well-designed assignments that drive students to the right information management systems. What are those skills? At what point are those skills best introduced to students? How can effective information retrieval and use become an integral aspect of student learning outcomes? We will explore these questions during the webinar and discuss a few examples of how Reaxys can used in the classroom.
