Helping doctors at Mumbai hospital save time, improve care
One of the largest multi-specialist hospitals in Mumbai, India, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, is among the finest medical institutions in India. The hospital not only has the largest numbers of intensive care unit beds in the entire city of Mumbai, but it is also a leader in clinical practices and an adopter of advanced medical technology, however, it lacked a comprehensive and a regularly updated database up until four years ago. Physicians were using multiple subscription databases and paper-based resources, which took up 60-70 percent of their time and resulted in very minimal usage.
In 2012, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital integrated ClinicalKey, the premium medical database from Elsevier, into their system, which gave them full access to a vast library of medical information and multimedia content. Due to ClinicalKey's extensive content, the use of the system increased more than five times, with an average of 280 unique browsing sessions on ClinicalKey per month, compared with previous offerings and addressed key needs of the clinicians. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with users praising its quality of information, efficiency, ease of use, and deciding to terminate all other subscriptions.
