Tutorial title: Advanced diamond nanofabrication techniques for quantum sensing and nanophotonics
In this tutorial I will start by explaining methods for diamond nanofabrication techniques. Those will include reactive ion etching, electron beam etching, lift-off and overgrowth. I will then provide detailed methodology to tailor these nanofab techniques towards photonic and quantum devices, including optical cavities, resonators, sensors, magnetometers and transistors.
In the second part, I will explain how to engineer colour centres into these nanostructures. I will put extra focus on emerging colour centres, such as silicon vacancy and germanium vacancy. Those have recently been utilised for advanced quantum information.
In the third part of the tutorial, I will discuss main challenges in the field and provide an outlook. In particular, I will focus on tangible and achievable progress that can be then employed by PhD students and ECRs.
