Young Scholar Award ICDCM2024

The ICDCM2024 Young Scholar Award recognizes predoctoral researchers in the early stage of their career and wishes to offer them an opportunity to highlight their recent results on an international stage through a combination of oral and poster presentations. Six winners received this honour at the 34th ICDCM in Dresden, Germany. The winners were presented with the award at the conference gala reception held at the Felix Restaurant.

Gold award winners

- Robin Allert, Technical University of Munich, Germany "Optimized NV diamond solid immersion lens for microscale nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy"

- Chen Ma, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany "Quantum defects in carbon nanotubes as novel tool for biosensing"

- Sofia Sturari, University of Turin, Italy "Nanodiamonds functionalized with hyaluronic acid-phospholide conjugates: a promising platform for cancer cells targeting and tumor treatment" Silver Award Winners

- Ali Bashir Rezaie, Technische Universitat Dresden, Dresden, Germany "Tailored-made carbon nanotube coated fibers for multiple sensory properties in concrete composites"

- Xinyue Chen, University of Siegen, Siegen, Germany "Zn-Nitrate Batteries Using CuxO@CNF-BNDD Electrodes"

- Kazuki Kobayashi, Kanazawa University, Japan "Inversion channel diamond MOSFET with step-free Al203/diamond interface"

Early Career Research Award ICDCM2024

The ICDCM2024 Early Career Research Award recognises a postdoctoral researcher whose work, despite being in the early stage of his or her career, has already shown important impact in the field of diamond and carbon materials.

Congratulations to the ICDCM 2024 Early Career Research Award winner Aldona Ilona Myzk, Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, Denmark. Dr. Aldona Ilona Myzk gave a plenary talk titled 'Quantum sensing journey towards revealing the role of free radicals in mechano-regulation of metabolic plasticity of cardiac fibroblasts'.

Supporting publication

Diamond and Related Materials opens in new tab/window is a leading international journal that publishes new fundamental and applied research on all forms of diamond, the integration of diamond with other advanced materials and development of technologies exploiting diamond. The synthesis, characterization and processing of single crystal diamond, polycrystalline films, nanodiamond powders and heterostructures with other advanced materials are encouraged topics for technical and review articles. In addition to diamond, the journal publishes manuscripts on the synthesis, characterization and application of other related materials including diamond-like carbons, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and boron and carbon nitrides. Articles are sought on the chemical functionalization of diamond and related materials as well as their use in electrochemistry, energy storage and conversion, chemical and biological sensing, imaging, thermal management, photonic and quantum applications, electron emission and electronic devices.

‘How to be a reviewer’ for Diamond and Related Materials Would you like to be considered as a potential reviewer for Diamond and Related Materials? Please visit Elsevier for Reviewers for further information. Alternatively, please visit the Elsevier booth whilst onsite at the conference, where you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Special Issue

All presenters including invited speakers, oral, and poster presenters are invited to submit a paper for a Special Issue of Diamond and Related Materials. All manuscripts will be considered with the quality criteria of normal DRM submissions, undergoing a fast but strict double peer-review process.

Submissions are welcome through 31 December 2024. The Article Type will be VSI: ICDCM2024. To submit and learn more about the special issue visit the journal homepage opens in new tab/window

DRM publishing seminar

The Editor in Chief of Diamond and Related Materials (DRM) Ken Haenen and Elsevier Publisher Kayla Dos Santos will hold a workshop to provide key insights on how to get your work published and how to review for the journal DRM. Current trends in materials science publishing including ethical best practices will also be given, with time for Q&A at the end.
