Food Structure and Functionality Symposium Young Scientist Award

In recognition of their contributions to the field of food structure and functionality, a Young Scientist Award will be presented to an outstanding researcher during the Food Structure and Functionality Symposium taking place in Bruges, Belgium, from 6-9 October 2024. The nominee will address an international community of high-level researchers gathered to learn about the latest findings in food structure and functionality. This unique experience demonstrates our on-going commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists advancing the field of food structure and functionality.

Eligibility

The young scientist can be at any point in their career, whether as a professional in academia, government or industry, but must be aged 40 years or under. Each nomination package must include:-

an introductory letter by a nominator;
an abstract of the scientist’s research presentation
(if you have already submitted an abstract for presentation at the conference, please quote the abstract number);
a recent CV;
a 2-page statement of accomplishments in food structure and functionality; and
a letter of support from an established colleague or professor.

Judging

The candidate should have a proven track-record of internationally recognised research in the field of food structure and functionality and demonstrate a clear vision of their future research initiatives in the field. Importantly, the chosen nominee will clearly articulate and demonstrate the ability to be a future leader in the field of food structure and functionality.

An official representative from the Food Structure and Functionality Symposium organizing committee will contact the selected nominee no later than 14 June 2024. The chosen young scientist will receive €500 Euro to participate in the Food Structure and Functionality Symposium taking place in taking place in Bruges, Belgium, from 6-9 October 2024. Registration will be complementary.

During the conference, the Young Scientist will address a global audience for 20 minutes. The Young Scientist presentation will follow the keynote speaker in the final session. They will join over 200 other food scientists to experience this global event.
