Elsevier MDL Excellence in Informatics Fellowship Awarded by Indiana University

SAN LEANDRO, CA and BLOOMINGTON, IN − September 7, 2005 − Elsevier MDL and the Indiana University School of Informatics are pleased to announce that the 2005 Elsevier MDL Excellence in Informatics Fellowship has been awarded to Xiao Dong. He will enter the School of Informatics in the fall as the first doctoral student with this fellowship.
Dong has a background in both chemistry and computer science. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical physics from the University of Science and Technology of China and his master’s degree in Computing from Marquette University. In addition, he conducted graduate work in chemistry, bioinformatics and electrical engineering.
Dean of the School of Informatics, J. Michael Dunn said, “I am pleased that we had a candidate of Dong’s caliber apply to the program. His background shows an interest and aptitude ideal for our School of Informatics. I look forward to hearing about his successful endeavors.”
