Elsevier and AACC International PRESS Announce Publishing Alliance

Alliance will bring researchers and practitioners expanded access to content in food science with a focus on cereals and grains

Cambridge, MA, December 17, 2015

Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and AACC International PRESS, the AACC International (AACCI) publishing program advancing the science and technology of cereals and grains today, announced today that the companies have formed a publishing alliance for food science content. It will support the research of those working in cereals and grains research, and food science and nutrition.

Elsevier will publish and distribute new AACC International PRESS books, taking advantage of ScienceDirect and other global distribution channels to reach a broader set of researchers in academia, industry and government. In addition, Elsevier will begin distributing a select set of relevant, high-demand titles already published by AACC International PRESS.

“This new joint endeavour with Elsevier will allow AACCI to deliver our scientific and technical knowledge to a much wider audience and in a more efficient manner than before. Leveraging the awareness-raising and delivery options of this global publishing company will help to maximise the impact of our expert knowledge in the field of cereals and grain science and enhance our contribution to increased food quality and security,” said Gerard Downey, Chair of the Board, AACCI.

The new books will be co-branded under the Academic Press and AACC International PRESS imprints and published as individual volumes and in collections beginning in 2016. They will be available in print as well via the many digital channels Elsevier serves.

“This new alliance provides Elsevier with high-quality content so that we can better serve the needs of our food science customers including cereal grain scientists and related professionals,” said Laura Colantoni, Vice President and Publisher, Science and Technology Books, Elsevier. “Cereal grain science and its product development applications are high-growth opportunities. This content serves the global population by supporting valuable research outcomes and contributing exciting insights into the global imperative of sustainability. For all of these reasons, the content from AACC International PRESS complements our existing food science collection. We are pleased to co-brand it with our Academic Press imprint and offer this important content broader global access.”

AACC International PRESS titles that will publish in 2016 are part of the ScienceDirect Agricultural, Biological and Food Sciences eBook collection, which is immediately available for presale along with Elsevier’s other extensive frontlist collections. Additionally, 17 AACC International PRESS titles originally published between 2008 and 2014 will be made available on the ScienceDirect platform. These titles will be available for purchase in early 2016.
