Ambulatory Pediatrics Changes Title to Academic Pediatrics
Publication also welcomes a new Editor-in-Chief
Philadelphia, 7 January 2009 – Ambulatory Pediatrics, the official journal of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), published by Elsevier, changes its name to Academic Pediatrics as of the January 2009 issue.
“Academic Pediatrics more accurately conveys the ongoing aims and scope of the journal to provide leadership in pediatric education, research, patient care and advocacy,” said APA Past-President and the new Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Peter Szilagyi, MD, MPH, Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Szilagyi succeeds James M. Perrin, MD, Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Director of Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Child and Adolescent Health Policy, Director of the Division of General Pediatrics and Vice Chairman of Research at Massachusetts General Hospital, as editor-in-chief of the journal.
Academic Pediatrics is a peer-reviewed publication whose purpose is to strengthen the research and educational base of academic general pediatrics. Each bi-monthly issue presents authoritative articles; delivers important research relating to the quality of child health care, health care policy, and the organization of child health services; and serves as an active forum for the presentation of pediatric educational research in diverse settings.
“The name change is a critical and natural component of the association’s ambitious 5-year strategic plan which is intended to serve members better and ultimately improve the health of children. The new name focuses on innovation and the best evidence in all of APA’s work in education, clinical care, research, and advocacy on behalf of children and families,” said Marge Degnon, Executive Director of the APA.
