Quick Facts

The quadrigeminal plate (also known as the tectal plate or tectum) is the roof plate of the midbrain upon which the superior and inferior colliculi sit. The superior colliculi are part of the visual system and help control eye movements while the inferior colliculi are part of the auditory system and play an important role in exchanging information from the inner ear to the auditory cortex.
