Description

The facial muscles are the cutaneous muscles found on the face, including the scalp, ear, eyelids, nose, and mouth. Otherwise known as the muscles of facial expression, they are collectively innervated by the facial nerve (CN VII). The facial muscles can be divided into several groups, including the:

- epicranial muscles;

- auricular muscles;

- circumorbital muscles;

- nasal muscles;

- buccolabial muscles;

- platysma.
