Structure

The lateral ligament of the bladder is considered the anterior-most condensation of the endopelvic fascia, with the cardinal ligaments located posterior to the lateral ligaments of the bladder. It attaches from the lateral aspect of the bladder to the lateral pelvic wall (Standring, 2016).

Function

The lateral ligament of the bladder provides a supportive function to the bladder, as well as providing passage of the superior vesical vessels from the posterior portion of the pelvis.
