Origin

The anteromedial malleolar vein is usually present and comes from the great saphenous vein.

Course

The anteromedial malleolar vein passes laterally across the ankle joint, beneath the tendons for extensor hallucis longus and tibialis anterior muscles. It drains into the anterior tibial or dorsalis pedis veins (Kelikian, 2012).
