José Luis Araus Ortega, University of Barcelona, Spain
José Luis Araus is Full Professor of Plant Physiology at the University of Barcelona (1993) and Professor ICREA Academia from the Government of Catalonia (2013). He conducted sabbatical research in crop physiology at the University of Georgia (US), and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (Syria) and at various times in his career has worked at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (Panama), the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT, Mexico) and other institutions. From 2000-2003 he was a National Seconded Expert at the Directorate General for Research of the EU (Brussels) and from 2006-2008 was Principal Scientist at the Global Maize CIMMYT. He is PI of several international projects (EU and elsewhere) and co-author on near 200 publications in SCI and SSCI Journals, with h-index (Google Scholar) of 54. He was awarded in 2008 with the Friendship Award (from the People’s Republic of China) and currently acts as a Vice-Chair of the Expert Wheat Group on Phenotyping.
