Elsevier was honored to be hosting the 2nd Scopus Awards Romania 2017. This special awards ceremony was intended to reward Romanian researchers and institutions for their contributions to global research that has significant economic and societal impact. The Scopus Awards thereby acknowledged the intensive work and energy that top researchers and institutions invest in accelerating Romanian research, and thus supporting Romanian society and the global research community.

The laureates were announced during a Ceremony and Gala Dinner at the Unirea hotel in Iaşi on October 26th, 2017.

Elsevier Scopus Award for Excellence in International Collaboration

International collaboration in science can drive innovation in research, improve access to funding and strengthen international relations. Romania is currently publicizing research strategies that promote international collaboration. Elsevier facilitates analysis of current collaboration patterns and map out future relationships that support the nation’s research goals.

About the award

The Elsevier Scopus Award for Excellence in International Collaboration is awarded to an institution with a highly internationally collaborative profile.

The awardee is chosen using the SciVal metric “International Collaboration Ratio,” measurable at the level of universities and research institutions. This metric measures the proportion of published research that is authored by researchers from Romania and researchers from other countries, compared to papers authored by Romanian researchers only.

Data from Elsevier’s Scopus and SciVal are used to identify the nominees and determine the winning institution. All currently available data from all Romanian institutions will be collected and analyzed for this award.

The Elsevier Scopus Award for Excellence in Global Contribution is awarded to a specific research program that contributes significantly to a scientific field or matter of global importance, in accordance with Romania’s currently publicized research strategies. The awardee is chosen using the SciVal metric “Competencies,” which is measured at the national level.

Data from Elsevier’s Scopus and SciVal are used to identify the nominees and determine the winning research program. All currently available data from all Romanian programs will be collected and analyzed for this award.
