Elsevier Partners with American Society of Hypertension to Launch New Journal
First issue of Journal of the American Society of Hypertension to be published
Philadelphia, PA., 8 February, 2007 – World-leading scientific and medical publisher Elsevier is pleased to announce the formation of a partnership with the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH). Under the new partnership, Elsevier will become publisher of the Society's new official journal, Journal of the American Society of Hypertension (JASH).
JASH will be published bimonthly, beginning in January/February 2007. It will provide a publication forum for the best basic and translational science related to blood pressure, hypertension, vascular, cardiovascular and renal factors and disorders. JASH will complement the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, also an official journal of the American Society of Hypertension, by focusing on both fundamental and applied research.
Members of ASH will receive the print edition of JASH as a benefit of membership. Members and individual subscribers will be able to access the entire contents of each issue online at the journal website, www.ashjournal.com. JASH will also be accessible through Elsevier's extensive and unique full-text collection, ScienceDirect.
Myron H. Weinberger, M.D., Director of the Hypertension Research Center at Indiana University School of Medicine, will serve as Editor-in-Chief. "Partnering with Elsevier will help us continue our mission to ‘promote and encourage the development, advancement, and exchange of scientific information in all aspects of research, diagnosis, and treatment of hypertension, and related cardiovascular diseases,’" comments Dr. Weinberger.
"We know that JASH will provide a valuable new addition to Elsevier's line of leading hypertension journals and books," comments Carma Schilpp, Director Medical Periodicals Marketing. "We look forward to working with our partners at ASH in producing this publication, with its unique insight into the translational nature of basic research with a ‘preview’ of clinically-relevant applications."
Individuals interested in contributing to the journal are invited to submit their manuscripts electronically via the Elsevier Editorial System, streamlining the peer review and editorial process.
