Elsevier Supports Doctors Without Borders For Second Year Through ‘The Great Giveback’ Campaign

Philadelphia, PA. 09 November, 2010 – Elsevier, the world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today that it will contribute to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) through ‘The Great Giveback’ campaign, providing medical assistance and support to numerous people around the world.

Elsevier will donate 10 percent of its revenue to MSF for all subscriptions to MD Consult, Elsevier’s premier electronic clinical reference tool, purchased between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31, 2010. In 2009, a similar campaign brought in more than 350 subscriptions worth over $120,000.

“MSF is grateful to Elsevier for supporting our relief efforts for a second year in a row,” said Jennifer Tierney, Director of Development, MSF-USA. “With the generosity of Elsevier and the people who purchase MD Consult subscriptions during this campaign, MSF will be able to provide assistance to people in war-torn countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, or in the wake of natural disasters such as the recent earthquake in Haiti and the floods in Pakistan."
