Elsevier adds BNF and BNFC information to ClinicalKey

ClinicalKey users in the UK and Ireland will now have access to improved local drug information

London, May 8, 2018

Elsevier, the information analytics business specializing in science and health, today announced that British National Formulary (BNF) content will be available through ClinicalKey, Elsevier’s flagship medical reference solution.

In response to customer demand, Elsevier has added drug information from the BNF and British National Formulary for Children (BNFC). The new content will be available through ClinicalKey from May 8, 2018 to users within the UK and Ireland.

BNF Publications are published jointly by the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. The formulary offers valuable drug information for healthcare professionals and is the only drug formulary in the world that is both independent and has had its content creation processes accredited by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

“The BNF and BNFC provide clinical evidence from diverse sources, validated by a network of experts and published under authority of a Joint Formulary Committee,” said Nic Potter, Global Sales Director, Royal Pharmaceutical Society. “Hence, intertwining this with a trusted clinical search engine such as ClinicalKey ensures that clinicians are able to deliver best practice through use of clinically validated drug information.”

ClinicalKey customers will soon also have full access to more than 2,500 BNF and BNFC drug monographs, giving them unrivalled guidance to make confident decisions when prescribing, dispensing, and administering medicines.

“The valuable content from the BNF and BNFC is a tremendous addition to ClinicalKey,” said Tim Hawkins, Managing Director, Clinical Solutions EMEALA at Elsevier. “We continuously update the content available through our platform to ensure that we are supporting our users with the most complete collection of trusted content and multimedia across medical specialties. This new addition is true to our commitment to be a trusted partner in care delivery.”

ClinicalKey provides evidence-based clinical answers drawn from the single largest body of clinical content available, including 600+ journals, 1,100+ books, drug information, guidelines, patient education and Medline. The Smart Search enables ClinicalKey to understand clinical terms and thus discover the most relevant medical content and find related content often missed by other search engines. ClinicalKey is optimized for any mobile device, making it more convenient to search and validate on-the-go. For more information about ClinicalKey, visit www.clinicalkey.com.
