The ventral anterior nucleus of the thalamus is involved in the modulation of signals from the overlying basal ganglia, with the majority of the fibers projecting from the globus pallidus. Specifically, this nucleus aids in the modulation of motor movements, by adjusting signals on their way to the premotor cortex - to which the ventral anterior nucleus projects.
