Description

The muscles of the upper limb include those that control gross motor skills, such as carry heavy objects, and fine motor skills, such as writing. There are many muscles within the upper limb. Some muscles originate and insert solely within the upper limb, while others originate from other regions (e.g., the thorax, neck, and back).

For classification purposes, the muscles of the upper limb can be arbitrarily divided into the following five distinct groups:

- scapulohumeral muscles;

- muscles of pectoral region;

- muscles of arm;

- muscles of forearm;

- muscles of hand.
