Research information meets research data management

In this article from Elsevier's Library Connect newsletter, Anna Clements of the University of St Andrews describes Pure, her institution's current research information system (CRIS), and its integration with their institutional repository.

The CRIS stores research outputs, outcomes, impacts and activities either via harvesting from third-party sources or via manual data entry by researchers, while the IR acts a genuine repository of openly accessible documents.

The CRIS-IR's strong technical and support infrastructure enables customer to build on new services, such as initiatives around research data management and the new open access policies in the UK.
