Pia Lindberg got her PhD at Uppsala University in 2003. Then she was a postdoctoral researcher at CEA Saclay, France, 2003-2004, and at University of California, Berkeley with professor Anastasios Melis, 2004-2008. In 2009, she returned to Sweden and Uppsala, and since 2015 she is an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström, Uppsala University. Her work is on metabolic engineering of cyanobacteria, with a focus on biosynthesis of terpenoids and other hydrocarbon compounds useful as renewable, green chemicals.
