Rémi Abgrall, University of Zurich, Switzerland
Remi Abgrall is a former student of École Normale Supérieure de Saint Cloud in France. After his PhD (on numerical simulation of meteorological problems), he has been engineer at ONERA, the french aerospace lab, and then research scientist at INRIA until 1996. He was professor at the University of Bordeaux until december 2013 when he moved to the University of Zürich.
He is on the editorial board of several journal including the Journal of Computational Physics, the Journal of Scientific Computing, Computers and Fluids and Mathematics of Computation. He is co-chief editor, with Charbel Farhat (Stanford) of the International Journal on Numerical Methods in Fluids. He has been awarded an Advance Research Grant from the ERC.
He is interested in the numerical approximation of hyperbolic/parabolic problems using unstructured meshes and high order schemes that efficient on modern computers. The applications are in fluid mechanics (Euler and Navier Stokes, single, multiphase flows, interface problems, Eulerian and Lagrangian hydrodynamics, etc), Hamilton Jacobi equations and more recently meshing problems for high order schemes.
