Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs

Budapest University of Technology and Economics

Gergely Zaránd is a theoretical physicist and full professor, a Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (since 2016) and of Saint Stephen’s Academy (since 2023). Since July 2024, he has served as Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). He was awarded the title Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2006 and has been a professor at BME since 2007. He directed BME’s Institute of Physics between 2015 and 2024 and chaired the University’s Scientific Council from 2021 to 2024.
