Tomorrow Today in Research

Academic Leaders' Summit

Driving the Impact of Research and Higher Education in the Age of AI

Tomorrow Today in Research LATAM-Header

Artificial intelligence is transforming research. The real challenge is no longer adopting it, but knowing who to trust

The growing array of artificial intelligence tools is transforming how research is conducted. However, in an environment with ever-increasing options, research and higher education require solutions supported by scientific evidence, transparency, and reliable content.

That's why we've created a space for dialogue to explore how to harness the potential of artificial intelligence for greater impact on Latin American institutions. Here, academic leaders from the region's top institutions can discuss the challenges and opportunities we, as a science-based community, are facing.

About the event

The AI Innovation Roadshow LATAM 2026 brings together university presidents, vice-presidents, and research directors in an in-person forum designed to discuss, with concrete examples, how artificial intelligence can add real value to research and institutional management.

AI doesn't automatically solve challenges. But when applied judiciously, it frees up time, improves decision-making, and gives visibility to existing work. That's the starting point of this conversation.

During the event, we will explore key topics such as:

  • How AI can give research teams back their time

  • What valuable information exists within institutions but is not yet being used

  • How to connect scientific output with industry, health, and technology

  • How to demonstrate impact to funding agencies and in international rankings

  • What responsible AI adoption means in academia

More than a presentation, it will be a peer-to-peer conversation, focused on sharing experiences and perspectives on the future of research in the region.

A regional conversation

This event is part of a series of in-person sessions that Elsevier is organizing in various Latin American countries. Each edition brings together university leaders to exchange approaches, challenges, and best practices regarding the adoption of AI in research.

Participation is limited to 25 people per event to ensure close and high-quality discussions.

Why now?

The adoption of AI in research is accelerating, and every institution has the opportunity to guide this change in its own way. According to Elsevier's Insights 2024: Attitudes toward AI report, 95% of researchers and clinicians believe that AI will help accelerate knowledge discovery. The question is no longer whether to adopt it, but how to do it well.

Why participate?

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Exchange experiences with other university presidents, vice-presidents, and research leaders from the region

  • See live demonstrations of six Elsevier AI solutions applied to real-world academic contexts

  • Discover how to reduce the operational burden on their teams and reclaim time for work that matters

  • Explore ways to strengthen their institution's visibility in international partnerships, funding opportunities, and rankings

  • Learn about the principles of responsible AI that can guide sustainable integration
