My main research interest is to understand and predict how land plants respond to and interact with the atmosphere under different environmental conditions, e.g. with rising atmospheric CO2, elevated ground-level ozone, and climate change. In particular, I am specialised on the processes that control plant water use and productivity, such as the regulation of leaf stomata and photosynthesis and the allocation of resources within the plant. Plant responses are studied experimentally as well as by meta-analysis and different types of modelling.
