David Edwards is a Professor at the University of Western Australia. He gained an Honours degree in agriculture from the University of Nottingham and a PhD from the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge.

He has held positions within academia, government and industry and has published more than 180 journal articles which receive >2000 citations per annum. His research interests include the structure and expression of plant genomes, the discovery and application of genome variation and applied bioinformatics, with a focus on crop plants and accelerating crop improvement in the face of climate change.

Heidi Webber is a Research Scientist at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF). She has undergraduate degrees in Physics and Agricultural Engineering and a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from McGill University.

Heidi’s research expertise is crop management adaptations to water deficit, climate change and variability, particularly in the context of surface irrigated systems and smallholder farming systems. In addition to her academic experience, she owned and operated an organic vegetable farm in Canada and worked as a technical advisor on agricultural water management in Sierra Leone.
