Maurice Swanson

Maurice Swanson is a Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine and Associate Director of the Center for NeuroGenetics. He received a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University where he studied the functions of nuclear and cytoplasmic RNA-binding proteins in mRNA biogenesis and translation. His current research focus is unstable microsatellites and RNA-mediated disease mechanisms in hereditary neurological and neuromuscular disorders.
