Join us for the 2nd edition of the Transportation Research Symposium 2027

The Transportation Research Symposium 2027 which will take place from the 11-14 July 2027 at the Singapore Expo, Singapore will give you an outstanding opportunity to interact with the editors of many of the most important journals in the transportation field, to learn about current research, and to present your own work to expert audiences.

We are delighted to announce that the 2nd Transportation Research Symposium 2027 will take place from the 11-14 July 2027 at the Singapore Expo, Singapore.

Building on the success of the inaugural Transportation Research Symposium in Rotterdam, Elsevier is bringing the conference to Asia for its next edition in Singapore – one of the world’s leading transportation and logistics hubs. As a global gateway for aviation, maritime trade, urban mobility, and smart infrastructure innovation, Singapore provides an ideal setting to explore the future of transportation research and practice.

The Transportation Research Symposium (TRS) is organised with editors of Elsevier’s Transportation Research (TR) family of journals and related transport journals, which collectively cover the full breadth of scientific, technological, and practical aspects of transportation research. Reflecting the scope and excellence of these journals, TRS offers a truly international platform for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to present cutting-edge research and engage with the latest developments across the field.

The conference is designed not only as a venue to showcase new research, but also as a collaborative forum where attendees can exchange ideas, receive valuable feedback, build new partnerships, and connect directly with Editors-in-Chief and editorial teams from leading transportation journals. Dedicated “Meet the Editor” sessions, roundtables, themed discussions, and networking events will create opportunities for meaningful dialogue across academia, industry, and policy.

TRS also provides opportunities for publication. A large number of Special Issues linked to participating journals are expected to be launched in connection with the conference, giving attendees the opportunity to develop and submit full papers based on their conference presentations. All submissions will undergo the standard peer-review process of the respective journals.

The conference programme will be structured around key themes shaping the future of transportation research, including:

  • Policy and Practice

  • Methodology

  • Emerging Technology

  • Environment and Equity

  • Logistics and Supply Chain

  • Safety and Psychology

  • Literature Reviews and Roundtable Sessions

All areas of transportation research are welcome, and contributions will be accommodated within the most relevant thematic area, alongside special sessions organised by editors from across Elsevier’s transport journal portfolio.

Welcome statements from the Conference Chairs

“The Transportation Research Symposium serves as a premier venue where researchers can network with eminent scholars worldwide and exchange innovative ideas shaping modern transportation. More importantly, it offers a rare opportunity to interface directly with the editors of the most prestigious journals in transportation. The highly interactive "meeting the editor" sessions provide attendees with direct information and practical experience. Participants gain critical insights into understanding the common pitfalls of academic paper submissions, while learning exactly how to successfully navigate the complex journal review process to maximize their overall future career impact.”

Prof. Jason Cao – Executive Chair, University of Minnesota, USA

“I had the pleasure and honor of serving as the chair for the inaugural Transportation Research Symposium held in Rotterdam in 2025 which brought together many interesting researchers and practitioners working on critical, urgent problems involving the safe, secure and efficient movements of people, goods and ideas across the world. TRS 2027 travels to Asia where we look forward to seeing and connecting with many friends and colleagues continuing to share important research on transportation and its impacts on society. It's also an opportunity to meet and greet and thank researchers and reviewers interested in international, interdisciplinary research published in TRIP (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/transportation-research-interdisciplinary-perspectivesopens in new tab/window). See you in Singapore!”

Prof. Karl Kim, University of Hawaii, USA

“This Symposium will offer you a great opportunity to meet your editors, peers, and world-leading lights in your research fields.”

Dr. Ying-En (Ethan) Ge, Chang’an University, China

“The Transportation Research Symposium provides an important forum for advancing scholarly exchange and strengthening collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals. By bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives, the symposium encourages constructive discussion of emerging transport challenges and promotes the translation of research findings into effective, real-world solutions. I am honored to contribute to this event and look forward to supporting meaningful dialogue that advances safer, more efficient, sustainable, and resilient transport systems.”

Prof. Zhiyuan Liu, Southeast University, China
