To ensure that we are providing books that will be well used and efficiently support research and learning, Elsevier takes a data-driven approach to book development. Book editorial teams draw on our powerful, proprietary research tools, including SciVal and Scopus, to identify subject areas where high-quality research output is strong and growing. Armed with this information, we plan and increase production of books to support those areas.
This data-driven approach is also used to search for authors in global research hotspots and using this information, we target the best authors for specific books in all subject areas. In our monthly newsletter, Online Books Connect, we feature some of the trends used to identify emerging trends. Visit the articles to see some examples of our data-driven approach.
