Description

The urogenital system comprises the urinary and genital (reproductive) systems. The urinary system consists of the organs and structures that are involved in the production of urine and removing it from the body. The genital system consists of the external genitalia and internal organs involved in procreation. The structures involved in urinary excretion and reproduction are functionally unrelated. However, in the male, the urinary and genital systems are anatomically associated with each other, as both systems share the urethra and vasculature. This is true to a lesser extent in the female, which shares supporting structures such as vasculature, but maintains two systems as separate entities with no direct crossover of organs or structures.
