Description
The head of humerus (humeral head) is the smooth, spherical-like, proximal end of the bone. It is orientated in the superomedial direction and slightly posteriorly also. It is continuous inferolaterally with the anatomical neck of the humerus.
The head of humerus is covered with articular cartilage and articulates with the glenoid fossa of the scapula, thus forming the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint.
