Guy Humphrey, Merck, USA
Guy Humphrey received his Bachelor of Science degree (1st Class Hons.) from Brunel University, UK and his Ph.D with Professor Raymond Baker at the University of Southampton, UK. In 1985 he joined the Merck process research group in Hoddesdon, UK. He subsequently relocated in 1990 to the Department of Process Research at Merck in Rahway, USA. He is currently a senior principal scientist and leader of the ‘Scientific Advisory Committee’ within the process chemistry department.
A 2013 recipient of the ACS ‘Heroes of Chemistry’ award for contributions to the development and commercialization of the Aids drug Isentress.
