Profile
Prof. Zhenyu Sun
Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China
Zhenyu Sun is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), China. He is director of Department of New Energy Chemical Engineering of BUCT. He has published over 190 papers in SCI journals such as Nat. Nanotechnol., Angew. Chem., Adv. Mater., Chem, Nat. Commun., among others.
He obtained his PhD degree in Physical Chemistry at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006. Following this, he did two-year postdoctoral research at Trinity College, University of Dublin Ireland. He completed an Alexander Humboldt research fellowship at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany in 2013 working on "fancy carbon-materials". From 2014 to 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Oxford on the metathesis reaction using heterogeneous catalysts.
His current research focuses on sustainable and green synthesis of hydrocarbons and oxygenates from CO2 reduction reaction, and NH3 from N2 reduction reaction via photo-/electrocatalysis, including design and synthesis of catalysts as well as mechanistic understanding of reaction mechanism. His interest also includes other reactions evolved in renewable energy conversion and utilization.
He is associate editor of RSC Sustainability and editorial board member of several international SCI journals including ChemElectroChem and J. Phys. Energy.
