Shrikrishnan Sankaran

INM - Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Germany

Shrikrishnan Sankaran heads the Bioprogrammable Materials research group at the INM – Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Germany. His work combines synthetic biology and materials science to develop Engineered Living Materials, with a focus on lactobacillus-based Living Therapeutic Materials for smart drug delivery. He earned his PhD from the University of Twente in the field of supramolecular chemistry and honed his skills in bacterial synthetic biology and biomaterials during his postdoctoral research at INM. Currently, he also coordinates a Leibniz Science Campus consortium, co-organizes the Engineered Living Materials conference, and hosts the Material Minds videocast.
