Rodrigo Hormazabal, PhD

Rodrigo Hormazabal is a Senior Research Scientist at LG AI Research, where he leads AI-driven initiatives in chemical science and molecular discovery. His work centers on the development of large-scale foundation models for chemistry that can harness from efficient pretraining on molecular graphs to the integration of rich, multimodal scientific data. These efforts aim to build comprehensive tools and advanced reasoning agents that combine text, vision, and other chemical modalities to drive breakthroughs in molecular design and organic synthesis for scientific discovery. With an interdisciplinary background in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence (Universidad de Concepción, Korea University, and KAIST), he bridges domain expertise and machine learning research to accelerate scientific discovery and translate molecular insights from large-scale data into real-world applications.
