Dr. Masaki Kurata had conducted fundamental research at CRIEPI on the behavior of metallic fuel for fast reactors and molten salt/liquid metal systems for dry reprocessing. After the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, he transferred to JAEA, where he led R&Ds on accident-tolerant fuel for light water reactors, as well as Fukushima Daiichi accident scenario analysis and debris characterization. He currently serves as a technical advisor of NDF and JAEA, as well as a specially appointed professor at IST, contributing to the debris characterization. He also participated as a key member in joint projects conducted by OECD/NEA, such as EGATFL, TCOFF, TCOFF2, and TAF-ID.
