Talk Title: Reflections from 30+ Years as an Industrial Scientist at the Industry-Academia Interface

Marcel Paques is a food science innovator and independent expert in structure–function relationships of foods. He retired in 2018 after a 30+ year R&D career at FrieslandCampina and Unilever as principal scientist, programme leader, and advisor. He is currently affiliated with Ghent University as a guest scientist. He graduated in Biology from Utrecht University and obtained his PhD on structure–function relationships of foods as complex adaptive systems at Ghent University. He has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters, is inventor on multiple patents, serves as book editor, sits on the editorial board of Food Structure, and is a frequently invited speaker and consultant.
