Dr. Junlei Tang is a National Distinguished Professor (Chang Jiang Scholars – Young Scholar), Doctoral Supervisor, and a Specially-Invited Expert of Sichuan Province. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2005 and 2010, respectively. From 2010 to 2014, he conducted management and scientific research at the Aero Engine Research Institute, the Civil Aircraft and International Department of the Aero Engine Corporation of China, and the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA-Lyon) in France. He has been a faculty member at Southwest Petroleum University since 2014.

His research interests include advanced materials and renewable energy, specifically hydrogen energy technologies such as advanced electrolyzers for seawater hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and corrosion within oil and hydrogen energy systems. He is the Chief Scientist for the National Key R&D Project of China “Research on Key Technology and Equipment Integration and Application of Megawatt-Class Fluctuation-Resistant Direct Electrolysis of Seawater” and the Chief Scientist for the CNPC Major R&D Project focusing on water electrolysis from seawater and produced water.

In recent years, Dr. Tang has led 6 national projects, 17 provincial and ministerial projects, and over 20 corporate-funded projects. He holds more than 20 national patents, has authored 3 monographs, published over 130 peer-reviewed papers, and contributed to 1 National Standard. His contributions have been recognized with 6 Scientific Research Achievement Awards at the national and provincial levels.

Currently, Dr. Tang serves as the Deputy Secretary-General of the New Energy Specialized Committee of the China Petroleum Society, an Executive Committee member of the Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection, and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal Surface Science and Technology. He is also the Director of the Research Center of Renewable Energy at the National China-Iraq Oil and Gas Energy "Belt and Road" Joint Laboratory and the Deputy Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, SWPU.
