Eleni Iacovidou

Eleni Iacovidou

Brunel University London, UK

Dr Eleni Iacovidou is a leading expert in sustainable resource and waste management, specialising in systems analysis, life-cycle sustainability assessment, and the circular economy. She leads the Centre for Pollution Research and Policies, home to the PISCES Relay, and is internationally recognised for bridging technical, environmental, economic, social, and policy dimensions of resource management, while championing systemic change that reframes waste as a valuable resource.

Using a systems-thinking approach, her work exposes structural failures in linear systems and designs cross-sector interventions that enable regenerative, inclusive, and circular transitions. With over a decade of experience in interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research, she advises governments in the UK and Indonesia and contributes to European guidance on safe-and-sustainable-by-design chemicals and materials. Trained in chemistry and environmental engineering, with a PhD from Imperial College London, Dr Iacovidou brings a distinctive blend of scientific rigour, systems insight, and policy engagement to advancing sustainable transitions.
