Expertise: Carbon materials

Education: PhD Electronics, University of Metz, France

Dr. Camélia Matei Ghimbeu is a Research Director at Material Science Institute in Mulhouse (IS2M), CNRS, France. She is leading the “Carbon and Hybrid Materials” group at IS2M and is member of French network of Electrochemical Storage of Energy (RS2E). Her research is focused on the development of novel carbon-based materials with tunned properties, their multiscale physico-chemical characterization, and their application in energy storage applications (batteries and supercapacitors). She has a recognized expertise in the field of hard carbon materials for sodium ion batteries.

Accomplishments

She received her PhD in electronics from University of Metz, France and TU Delft, The Netherlands (2007) and her Habilitation in materials chemistry (2015) from University of Haute Alsace, France. She was awarded in 2017 the Bronze Medal (CNRS), in 2018 the Award "Solid-State Chemistry Division" (French Chemistry Society) and in 2019 the award Guy Ourisson (Gutenberg Cercle). She authored 140 articles and was involved in about 200 communications.
