Patricia Thornley, University of Manchester, UK

Patricia Thornley is a chartered physicist with over 20 years experience in bioenergy in the commercial and academic sectors. She currently leads the £12.8M EPSRC SUPERGEN Bioenergy hub, which acts as a focal point in UK bioenergy research for the academic, industrial and policy communities. She is professor of sustainable energy systems at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change research in the University of Manchester's school of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, where her research focuses on evaluating the sustainability (environmental, economic and social) of bioenergy systems including greenhouse gas balances and climate impacts.
