DGI and Elsevier Grant Best Paper Award

Frankfurt, 5 July, 2010 - DGI and Elsevier honor Young Information Professionals (YIPs) with the “Semantic Web & Linked Data - Elements of Future Information infrastructures” Best Paper Award, to be presented at the first annual DGI conference on 7 October 2010.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informationswissenschaft und Informationspraxis e.V. (DGI) will honor contributions from next-generation information professionals with the Best Paper Award. The award, funded with a grant from science publisher Elsevier, will be presented during the 1st annual DGI-conference, on 7- 9 October 2010, in Frankfurt. First, second and third Best Paper Awardswill be given, along with cash prizes. The partnership between the DGI and Elsevier denotes the high interest that the Science, Research and Industry sectors have in supporting the next-generation information professionals.

The DGI-Conference 2010 deals with the theme “Semantic Web & Linked Data” and focuses on the establishment of future information infrastructures. These will have a crucial influence on how the “world” will be represented and understood. As the next generation will build upon what will be decided today, the call for papers for the Best Paper Award focuses on all Young Information Professionals, (e.g. trainees, students, post-graduates, and those newly appointed in the information sector.)

At the Conference, organized in cooperation with the Frankfurter Book Fair,YIPs will be offered the opportunity to present their contributions to an audience of information professionals. The selection of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize will be made by a jury of information professionals and conference attendees.
