Philadelphia, PA, April 14, 2015

The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG), published by Elsevier, is pleased to announce a new affiliation between the Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology (IDSOG) and AJOG. IDSOG content will now be featured in AJOG, which will include original research, reviews, and IDSOG conference abstracts.

“Issues related to infectious diseases cut across all of the formal subspecialties in Obstetrics and Gynecology, from management of genital Herpes Simplex virus during pregnancy to the role of bacteria in urinary disorders and the impact of pelvic inflammatory disease on fertility to optimal healing after surgery for gynecological cancers,” commented Editor-in-Chief for Gynecology of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology Ingrid Nygaard, MD, MS, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah. “Research related to the human microbiome has the potential to change the way we think about causes of various diseases and their treatments. We are very excited to partner with IDSOG and will work to maximize the dissemination and impact of the important research conducted by members of this society.”

The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology presents coverage of the entire spectrum of the field, from the newest diagnostic procedures to leading-edge research. The Journal provides comprehensive coverage of the specialty, including maternal-fetal medicine, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, reproductive endocrinology/infertility, and gynecologic oncology.

“IDSOG is very excited to have the opportunity to partner with a high-quality scientific journal such as the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. We look forward to working together with AJOG to advance the knowledge base in the discipline of reproductive infectious diseases within the entire women’s health field,” stated IDSOG President Richard Beigi, MD, MSc,Associate Professor, Department of Ob/Gyn/RS, Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA.

For more than 40 years IDSOG has been committed to scientific exchange, education, and leadership in infectious diseases in women.
