Elsevier and the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, partner to honor researchers

Kazakhstan aspires to strengthen its global research ranking and stimulate innovation with broader access to Elsevier’s scientific information and tools
To recognize the input of Kazakh researchers into the research landscape in Kazakhstan, the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstanand Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, partnered on the Scopus Awards Kazakhstan 2022 ceremony. The program and awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 9:30 AM (GMT+6) at the Sheraton Astana in Astana.
Under the sponsorship of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this event aspired to celebrate and encourage the intellectual and scientific wealth of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The program featured:
A keynote address, Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, delivered by Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
A panel discussion on the future of research in Kazakhstan from the perspective of its stakeholders
A roundtable discussion on the present and future of research in Kazakhstan, led by Elsevier Research Excellence Award recipients
Elsevier Research Excellence Awards presentation
The event was hosted by Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher, and Marat Fatkhullin VP for Global Strategic Networks, with support from Damir Rakhmetov, Elsevier Account Manager for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, as well as distinguished guests representing the academic world in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Sayasat noted, “I believe that if we all combine our experience, competencies and strengths, we can make a real contribution to socio-economic growth and development, thereby helping to make this world a better place for us and for our children.”
Damir Rakhmetov, Elsevier Account Manager for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, stated: “The Elsevier Research Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of Kazakh researchers, representing a wide range of disciplines, and highlights the contribution of scientists in Kazakhstan and their commitment to applying their research to the benefit of society in Kazakhstan and beyond.”
