Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that Amorette (Amy) Pedersen, Vice President of Channel Management and Marketing Operations for Science and Technology Books, Elsevier, was named to the Board of Directors for the Book Industry Study Group (BISG). Her appointment to the board brings expertise from the science, technology and medical (STM) publishing segment to BISG, the book industry's leading trade association for policy, standards, and research.

"We're delighted that Amy agreed to join the BISG Board," said Len Vlahos, Executive Director, BISG.  "Our nominating committee wanted to bolster representation from the STM community and there was no better candidate than Amy Pedersen representing Elsevier."

Amy Pedersen is a highly knowledgeable publishing professional with experience ranging from production and manufacturing through marketing and distribution. She has been in her current position at Elsevier since 2009 and is responsible for product marketing, go-to-market planning, pricing, lead generation, communications, as well as for ecommerce solutions. Prior to this position, she was Elsevier's Publishing Director for the Focal Press, Syngress, Butterworth-Heinemann Security, and Morgan Kaufmann imprints. "Having Amy join the BISG Board of Directors is a good thing for the industry, as well as for Elsevier," said Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director, Science and Technology Books, Elsevier. "As a major STM publisher, it's important that we participate in the organization's initiatives. Amy brings a wide base of knowledge to the Board and will certainly be able to contribute to the overall advancement of STM book publishing."
