Second Epidemics Congress in Athens, Greece to feature virtual component
Various presentations now available online
Amsterdam, 9 December 2009 – Elsevier, a leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today, that presentations from the second conference in the Epidemics series, held in Athens, Greece earlier this month, will be made available online on the conference website.
The Epidemics Conference is the only conference dedicated to the field of infectious disease dynamics, and the Epidemics Virtual Conference provides researchers with the opportunity to access the high-quality content that the congress provides from the comfort of their desk.
“Following the highly successful inaugural Epidemics Conference in Asilomar in 2008, the meeting in Athens again served as an international interface between researchers from a modelling, lab, and field based background”, said the Chair of the Conference Angela McLean from the University of Oxford, UK.
Elsevier is offering on-demand audio webcasts, including synchronized slides, from the majority of presentations, including presentations from top international keynote speakers such as Rita Colwell from the University of Maryland, USA on ‘Climate change and vector borne disease: What to expect’. Registration for the Epidemics Virtual Conference is free of charge.
“Special sessions dedicated to the latest data on flu were very well attended”, commented Floris de Hon, Executive Publisher of the journal Epidemics. “Being able to bring such a large number of presentations to the global scientific and medical community via the virtual conference we consider both important and exciting”.
