Origin

The zygomaticofacial nerve is a branch of the zygomatic nerve that originates at the inferior lateral wall of the orbit.

Course

From its origin, the zygomaticofacial nerve runs laterally through the zygomaticofacial foramen to exit the orbit. It emerges on the anterior and lateral surface of the zygomatic bone, just lateral to orbicularis oculi muscle, where it becomes cutaneous.

There are no named branches.

The zygomaticofacial nerve is a sensory nerve that conveys general sensation from the skin overlying the zygomatic bone, zygomatic arch, and upper cheek.
