Simple steps for sharing your proposal

We’ve made sending your idea to Elsevier easy. When you submit your proposal, our team routes it to the acquisitions and editorial experts best suited to your book's subject area and audience. This process helps us understand the value and contribution your book can bring to readers and to the discipline as a whole.

What to submit in your proposal

We've created easy-to-use proposal forms to help you share your vision with us. Our forms guide you to include key information about your book, including:

  • Working title, book overview, and keywords (what the book covers, why it matters, and terms to help us position its content)

  • Author/editor information (your qualifications and purpose for writing this book)

  • Target audience (who will use this content and why)

  • Content scope, key topics, and features (what you'll cover and how)

  • Competition (books already on the market and how yours is unique)

  • Additional information, such as a book outline, working table of contents, sample chapters and/or planned co-authors

Following the proposal template will help you think through the various aspects of your book and why your audience needs it.
