LeapSpace Advisory Board

The LeapSpace Advisory Board (LSAB) is an independent and external group of international academics providing guidance on the algorithms and content standards used to surface and evaluate content within LeapSpace.

It is comprised of a growing number of leading international academics with complementary skills in areas such as machine learning, responsible AI/ethics, publishing and bibliometrics, research infrastructure, academic leadership and industry R&D.

Working across LeapSpace's three certification dimensions, namely publisher neutrality (content discovery guided by relevance, not publisher identity), answer quality (the methodology behind how AI-generated answers are evaluated), and responsible AI (safe, transparent use in critical research settings), the Advisory Board keeps human judgement front and center in how LeapSpace is evaluated and, over time, certified.

The Board is modelled on the successful Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB); a group of international scientists, researchers and librarians that vets and selects the content indexed in Scopus. It also regularly reevaluates that content, discontinuing titles that don’t comply with its guidelines anymore.

Like the CSAB, the LeapSpace Advisory Board will be chaired by Professor Jörg-Rüdiger Sack, whose goal is to make it just as “rigorous, challenging and engaged”. More importantly, it will mirror the CSAB’s positioning – external and independent – something Jörg-Rüdiger considers essential.
